hi, my name is linda

I design, make paper goods, and live in Seattle. One Fine Dae shares the many lovely things that I adore. I'm also a fan of Polaroids, Scrabble, classic movies, vintage, and sailboats. And Charlie Brown is my goofy little companion and unofficial paper shredder.

I'm on Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and Pinterest.

And also read emails. So say hello, I'd love to hear from you.

not tuesday + the bridge

/ Monday, August 08, 2011

080811_nottuesday

Not Tuesday is such a fun shop. So colorful and great styling, too!

. . . . .

There is this draw bridge that I have to drive pass whenever I need to get into the city, and it is seriously the bane of my driving existence. Whenever I get stuck (which is often and at random times), it's about a 10- to 15-minute wait, sometimes longer, if the vessel that's passing through has a big load. As if waiting for the bridge isn't annoying enough, the drivers and passengers in nearby cars can be quite disturbing.

Take this past weekend for example. I was heading into town to hang out with some friends for the evening, the bridge went up, and I got stuck behind an SUV with a driver and passenger having a full-on make out session. Longest 10 minutes of my life.

Beautiful leather goods from HarLex. Look, you can even personalize them.

. . . . .

I got whiplashed by my yakisoba during lunch today. Eat cautiously, people.

vitrine + subliminal messaging

Curated products from Vitrine are so much fun! (Via @tokketokpress)

. . . . .

I was grabbing napkins off the napkin dispenser from a bakery at lunch today, and noticed a sticker with tiny black type that read:

NAPKINS = TREES

I stopped at two instead of going for a third.

flour + it's all about timing

Flour for the little youngsters. My younger self would love me that green sweater. (Via Mint.)

. . . . .

"My preschool students sometimes don't have the timing down when it comes to using the electric pencil sharpener. They count to 3 too slow, or forget to count altogether, so their new pencils become stubby after just the first round of sharpening."

What mom said after I asked if she had an electric pencil sharpener.

elde + the rain, the floor, and the ugly

My office gets so cold throughout the day. Makes me want these pretty and cozy accessories. (By Elde.)

. . . . .

Do you know what is NOT a good combination (among other things)?

Rainy Seattle weather + lobby floor made of red bricks + brand new coat of wax.

It's like a slipping disaster waiting to happen!

(I had three close calls today. Once while holding a hot cup of cocoa.)

monster gallery + election day

I love these retro-inspired series of prints on some of the world's most well-known skyscrapers from Monster Gallery.

. . . . .

Today I voted.

And even though it took me way longer than necessary to find my city's voting center (2+ hours and three failed stops), I made it there and threw in my ballot with less than 6 minutes to spare. Phew!

Next time, I'm going with USPS.

umbu + always be nice

Lovely lamps from Umbu Lumiere. And the blog.

. . . . .

A grumpy man came into the post office yesterday and made a scene because the postwoman told him to get in line like everyone else.

He quickly got upset and unnecessarily rude, left his bill on the counter, and stormed out saying, "I'm leaving this right here. How do you like that?!"

Her response: "Well, someone's not getting their bill paid. Howdaya like that?!"

So the lesson here, kids, is: Always be nice to the postman.

fall fave + that doesn't look comfy

092910_jcrewblazers

Fall to me means hot chocolate, colorful scarfs, and a new outerwear piece, like one of these blazers from J.Crew.

. . . . .

Spotted this morning on my way to work:

An extremely pregnant woman walking uphill in black hooker heels. She looked very uncomfortable.

everyeskimo + why the chicken crossed the road

There's something quite somber, yet sweet, about these adorable little guys from everyeskimo.

. . . . .

On the radio this morning, a traffic reporter said that one area of a major freeway in Seattle was backed up due to some chickens being spotted on the road. No chickens were seen during the time of the report, but it was confirmed that a truck full of chickens did, indeed, drive through that area.

Hmm...I guess there is some truth after all to the old question of "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

simple things for tuesday

/ Tuesday, July 20, 2010

072010_tuesday

Simple things I love: morning fog and soft, sheer curtains. Circa 8-ish this morning. Polaroid SX-70 + 600 Edge Cut.

. . . . .

This Tuesday morning started out the same as any other Tuesday morning.

Then Journey's Don't Stop Believin' came on the radio during my drive to work, followed by fresh pastries (from Specialty's) up for grabs in the office. And that's when I knew today's Tuesday was going to be a little more enjoyable.

Sometimes, it really is about the simple things.

So, I'd love to know: What are the simple things that tip the scale for you?
