hi, my name is linda

I design, make paper goods, and live in Seattle. One Fine Dae shares the many lovely things that I adore. I'm also a fan of Polaroids, Scrabble, classic movies, vintage, and sailboats. And Charlie Brown is my goofy little companion and unofficial paper shredder.

I'm on Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and Pinterest.

And also read emails. So say hello, I'd love to hear from you.

these are a few of my favorite pins

I haven't been using Pinterest for very long (and sometimes I just get too lost in the images to even remember to pin), but one of the cool things about it is the ability to follow my favorite bloggers and see what they like. Mindy's pins are definitely amongst some of my favorites. She's got such great style and taste, and I love all her color boards. The yellow, aqua, and pink boards make me want to live in them!

Also, have you guys been entering all of the fun giveaways on her blog? There are just a few more days until it's over. I'm up today, so if you want to score a few stationery goodies, go check it out. It ends at midnight tonight!

I love the simplicity and subtle details of these triangular necklaces from Emedemarta, based in Barcelona. Oh, and the photography and styling? Perfect.

Also, happy December folks! To kick off the month, Mindy Gayer is hosting "the giveaway of all giveaways." She's collaborating with her favorite brands and designers to offer 25 days of giveaways. And guess what? One Fine Dae is in the mix.

The first giveaway starts today, so hop on over to Mindy's lovely blog to learn more and participate in some merry delights.

. . . . .

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I can't believe July is almost over. Where is the time going these days?!

I recently discovered this cool project headed by Ivan Cash called Snail Mail My Email. It's seriously as simple as it says, and probably one of the coolest community projects I've seen lately. If you've been meaning to get in touch with someone, definitely try it out. You can even make one custom request. But act fast, the project ends August 15th.

year one + shop sale

050311_yearone

A year ago today, a nervous and excited me opened my online paper shop to the world. It took a little over a month for that first real sale to happen, and when it did, I remember it being one of the happiest and best surprises to wake up to. Anyone with a shop probably knows and understands this elated feeling. (For those who are curious, it's like when you're a kid waking up in the morning and realizing it's your birthday.)

Now, a year later, the feelings have not gotten old. I am so thankful and appreciative of all the positive feedback, press, and of course, my wonderful customers who have supported my budding indie shop this past year. It truly makes me so happy!

So, to show my appreciation, I am offering a 20% discount in my Etsy shop until Sunday, May 8th. Happy shopping my dears!

Just received these pencils in the mail last week, and they are so much fun. I love that they also add pops of color to my desk, and remind me of summer.

Now I just need a pencil sharpener...

(P.S. I'm also including one in every order from the shop, while supplies last. Which color do you fancy?)

a year + a giveaway

110510_giveaway

Hi friends! Today marks one year since my first post. I can't believe it's really been a year, and it feels quite surreal to me.

But here I am, writing this, and feeling so happy for starting up this blog. I'm so happy to have discovered such an amazing community of talented bloggers and designers, and connect with so many wonderful, genuine, and kindhearted people.

And most of all, I'm so seriously thankful for having such awesome readers. I am truly appreciative of all your comments, emails, and support throughout this past year, and hopefully for years to come.

So with that, I would like to offer a giveaway, my very first. It's my way of saying thank you thank you thank you!

(This post will stay at the top of the page for the duration of the giveway.)

Giveaway

One lucky winner will win a trois notebook, one of the newest additions to my shop. I'm also throwing in a mix set of bon voyage postcards, just because.

To enter, leave a comment telling me your favorite color(s). I'd love to know.

Want more entries? Tweet and/or blog about the giveaway, come back here, and leave your link(s). So basically, you have up to 3 chances to enter.

The giveaway will be open until Thursday, November 11th at 11:59 PM Pacific time, and a winner will be announced Saturday, November 13th.

Also, this is open to everyone, so if you're an international reader, go for it! Thanks and good luck.

modern typefaces for you + hey homie

A nice collection of fresh + modern typefaces compiled by Thinkstock. And they're all up for grabs! My personal favorites are Dark Moon, Museo Slab, Acid, and Quadranta.

. . . . .

I find it interesting that Metro bus drivers in Seattle acknowledge each other whenever they drive pass one another. I mean, there are as many taxi drivers as there are bus drivers in the city, but I rarely see them acknowledge each other, if at all, during passing. They mostly keep to themselves. But bus drivers? Oh boy, that's a different story. It's not your typical lets-be-polite-and-smile-because-we-share-the-same-profession kind of acknowledgment; it's full on hey-homie-hows-it-going-lets-hang-out-after-our-shifts-are-over kind of acknowledgment. And it's usually expressed in the form of honking, nodding followed by a peace sign, shouting, or my personal favorite, rolling down the window entirely in order to wave—you know, the way you would if you were trafficking an airplane down the runway. It makes me wonder if there's a clause in their contract that specifically tells them to say hi to nearby drivers like they're one of your best friends you haven't seen for years, because that would explain everything, ya know? Nevertheless, it's quite funny and often makes for an entertaining commute.

I wish I could easily spot designers walking pass me, and acknowledge them in similar fashion. But then again, I don't have a 50-foot bus to drive in to pull it off. Because if I'm making a complete fool of myself, what else am I going to use to shield myself from utter embarrassment and shame?
