hi, my name is linda

I design, make paper goods, and live in Seattle. One Fine Dae shares the many lovely things that I adore. I'm also a fan of Polaroids, Scrabble, classic movies, vintage, and sailboats. And Charlie Brown is my goofy little companion and unofficial paper shredder.

I'm on Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and Pinterest.

And also read emails. So say hello, I'd love to hear from you.

A sweet, sweet little video. Address Is Approximate from The Theory. My favorite scene starts at 1:47 with the lights. Genius!

Hope you're enjoying the weekend!

a sweet tune for friday

/ Friday, October 28, 2011

Video from Movieclips.com.

. . . . .

This scene from one of my favorite movies has been on repeat lately. Such a sweet and adorable voice that Audrey Hepburn has. And the song is quite lovely, too.

One of my goals in life is to learn to play the piano, but my self-proclaimed tone-deaf has made me put this goal toward the bottom of my priority list. Hopefully someday I can build up the confidence to try, and possibly play something for y'all.

For now, I'll just let Hepburn's voice and guitar strumming carry you through the day. Thank you so much for all your warm birthday wishes, and happy Friday!

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Logos from here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Twitterverse was passing around a link today that caught my attention. Fauxgo, a cool web site maintained by Tymn Armstrong, collects fake logos that exist only on film. Above are some of my favorites, with the majority designed by this awesome animation studio. Can you guess where they're from?

P.S. The site is a growing collection and takes contributions, so feel free to share if you spot something from the big screen.

Beautiful, minimalistic and functional designs, by Your Nest Inspired.

. . . . .

My friend Long sent me a link to yesterday's Today Show, and the story just touches my heart. It's about a janitor named Tyrone Curry who won the state lottery of $3.4 million in 2006, but still continues to do what he loves each day for the past 34 years—being a janitor and coaching the Evergreen High School track and field team.

That was my high school y'all, and he was my janitor! Goodness, what an amazing hero.

mia, emma, and that hair

When Emma Watson decided to chop off her long, lush locks, she wanted something that was completely different from her onscreen alter ego, Hermione. After photos of her new do emerged, it instantly reminded me of Mia Farrow from Rosemary's Baby.

I think both ladies wear that boy-cut hair style very well, and it's seriously crazy how similar they look, too.

Speaking of hair, after several years of growing it out (with a few trims here and there), it's finally time for me to donate again. I had planned on cutting it at the end of May, but I'm impatient and couldn't wait that long, so I scheduled it for this Saturday. Eeks! I'm nervous and excited, and will probably miss my long hair once it's gone, but definitely looking forward to easier hair maintenance and less time shampooing. Before and after photos to come.

Happy Saturday! It's Super Bowl weekend here in the states.

To those not from around here and not familiar, it's pretty much the largest and most watched sporting event on TV for Americans. It's crazy. People will literally schedule their whole year around this weekend, and even buy new TVs just to watch the game. And, more pizza is consumed on Super Bowl weekend than any other week in the year. I kid you not; just check out the facts.

My favorite part about the Super Bowl, however, is seeing all the new, hilarious commercials. I'm sure this holds true for a lot of people. I mean, when your team doesn't make it into the Bowl, there's gotta be something else to look forward to, right?

Speaking of commercials, isn't the new Volkswagen one adorable? (via @pawlingprint)

Hi y'all. Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend.

As for me (and probably many other Seattleites alike), the most exciting thing that happened this last weekend was the game between the Seahawks and the Saints. I'm usually not one to watch football, but Saturday's game was one of the most exciting sporting events I've ever seen on TV. I was seriously screaming and jumping as Lynch bulldozed his way down the end zone.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Here's what you missed.

And even if you aren't a Seahawks fan, or don't care for football, you have to admit, that touchdown was pretty damn awesome. But if you need more convincing, how about seeing it set to the Super Mario Bros. tune?

Two types of photographic styles I love are dreamy and minimalistic. Just like these wonderful captures by Kitty Rogers. (Via Papernstitch.)

Monica: You were my first kiss EVER?!?!

Chandler: What did I marry into???!!

There's nothing like catching re-runs of Friends on late-night TV.

If you have about 12 minutes of free time today, you must watch this video! It's the sweetest little short film by Patrick Hughes. This has been circulating since 2008 but I was only introduced to it the other day (via my coworker). I know, late on the bandwagon...but hey, at least I made it on right?

Anyway, please enjoy!
