hi, my name is linda

I design, make paper goods, and live in Seattle. One Fine Dae shares the many lovely things that I adore. I'm also a fan of Polaroids, Scrabble, classic movies, vintage, and sailboats. And Charlie Brown is my goofy little companion and unofficial paper shredder.

I'm on Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and Pinterest.

And also read emails. So say hello, I'd love to hear from you.

take criticism + an event apart

I came across this vintage sign from Lackluster Co. today and didn't even think twice before clicking the "Add to Cart" button. It pretty much sums up my professional and personal life. Not in a bad sense, mind you, but in the sense that there is give and take to everything we do, and for every negative, there's always a positive (and vice versa) to cancel each other out and keep life's equilibrium in tact. Plus, I love the fact that the sign is seafoam green (one of my favorite colors), and the illustration that goes with it is just perfect. I'm sure we've felt like that once or twice in our lives.

This week, I'm attending An Event Apart for work, and having a fabulous time. I've enjoyed so many of the speakers talk about their philosophies and share their expertise in the world of web design and development. It's also nice to get out of the office for a few days, be surrounded by an intelligent group of people who care about and love beautiful and practical design, and bust a move during the middle of the day. Say what?! Yeah...Thriller.

If you're interested in learning about some of the awesome things that have been (and will be) discussed, feel free to visit afeedapart.com and follow all the tweets!

Am really thankful for the amazing people I work with and for the opportunity to attend events like this. Yay to NOT working for The Man!

It evokes people something.
We should have the attitude of criticisem and fair.

Very cool sign. If only everyone in this world had this attitude, we would all be better off. The ability to take criticism is something very few people have. Most people automatically get defensive or offended when they hear criticism. You have to be able to not just give criticism but to also take it.

so lucky! and yay to your last sentence!

An Event Apart looks wonderful. And Thriller too? Why am I not there?
I really need to start my own company so I can be my own boss.

that is an awesome sign. and yay for good design conferences!
