fall fave + that doesn't look comfy

/ Thu, September 30, 2010

Fall to me means hot chocolate, colorful scarfs, and a new outerwear piece, like one of these blazers from J.Crew.

. . . . .

Spotted this morning on my way to work:

An extremely pregnant woman walking uphill in black hooker heels. She looked very uncomfortable.

I have such a sweet spot for simple geometric shapes, like these pieces from Little O by Wolfbrother.

old and new

/ Sun, September 26, 2010

Found these two polas while I was tidying up my space. They're from early 2009. Not too long ago, but it feels like forever. I can still recall when and where I took them, too.

The scooter pic was my first official Polaroid photo. I remember being so happy and giddy after paying the nice lady who sold me my first Polaroid camera that I had to take a photo of the coolest thing at the moment—the shiny, red scooter. To her, the camera was probably an obsolete piece of junk, but all I saw was a brand new toy. And I love how this picture reminds me of that, with its blurriness and all.

The van pic was taken on one early Sunday morning in January after I took out the trash. It was one of those crisp and sunny winter days that Seattle gets. The kind that makes you want to be outside just to breathe in the fresh air. This was the street my old apartment was on. Just to the right of that volkswagen. My first apartment with my bff, actually. It was small and came with several unexpected WTH issues, but it was cozy, and it was home. Perfect for two young girls trying to figure out what our next move was, while living off cheese, scrambled eggs, and instant noodles. But we did have Scrabble and classic movie nights to keep us happy. Gregory Peck was our leading man, and his leading lady was Audrey Hepburn. We loved them together.

Okay, enough of this walking-down-memory-lane stuff.

In other new news...I spent most of Sunday giving the blog a make-over. A little less compartmentalized, a little more open. And gives me more room to add stuff to the side bars if I wanted to. Hope you like the new look.

infusion + that giddy feeling

/ Fri, September 24, 2010

On my wish list, from Infusion.

. . . . .

I'm having that giddy feeling.

Maybe because I'm seeing The Town this weekend.

Or because I'm collaborating on a fun project with Rachel.

Or because it's finally Friday.

Either way, I'm happy.

Hope you have a good weekend, friends!

colby june + goodbye summer, hello fall

/ Tue, September 21, 2010

Lovely nature-inspired pieces by Colby June Jewelry. Also visit the website here.

. . . . .

Today was the last day of summer, and a beautiful last day it was for us Seattleites.

I celebrated by getting frozen yogurt around 3:52 pm. That dreadful hour when time feels like a standstill.

Summer will be missed, but the transition into fall really is my favorite time of year.

seed + shop loves

/ Thu, September 16, 2010

Okay, cuteness overload or what?! Aussie's fashion line for kids by Seed. There's also a women's line.

. . . . .

If you're ever planning a trip to Australia, please be prepared for some amazing shopping. I mean, REALLY prepare. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

A few shops and eateries that I passed by, visited, and loved:

Card & Caboodle in Melbourne and Paper Couture and Paper2 (both in Sydney) for beautiful paper goods, accessories, and gifts. (Sadly, Paper Couture was closed on the day I visited, but Jo Neville's work is wonderful so her shop is nothing short of extraordinary.)

Lemon Twist Cafe in Sydney for some delicious breakfast served by a friendly staff with stick-on staches.

Bay Hong in Sydney for great Vietnamese food. All the waiters wear male ao dais.

Chee Soon & Fitzgerald in Sydney for international housewares, fabrics, and accessories.

And a big thanks to Justine of Upon A Fold for recommending some of these places. (Her shop is amazing, too, btw.)
